Tar based shampoos have been used for years to help control dandruff causing scalp conditions like psoriasis as well as seborrhea. I have always liked T Gel shampoo as it never felt like a "medicinal" tar-based product. I have personally been more impressed with tar shampoos´ effectiveness for psoriasis, as opposed to seborrhea. Tar quickly helps reduce the production of excess skin cells that result from psoriasis, improving itching and flaking. I always suggest to my patients with blonde, gray or bleached hair not use tar shampoos due to a minor risk of the tar discoloring their hair.
